Contemplative Prayer

Contemplative Prayer is based on the wisdom saying of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount: '. . . when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will repay you.' (Matthew 6.6)

Contemplative Prayer focuses on the inner dwelling of God. It makes available our whole being to the divine presence. It is a form of prayer available to people of all faith traditions.

Christian Centering Prayer

We recommend a form of Contemplative Prayer known as Centering Prayer as recommended by Fr Thomas Keating OCSO, a trappist monk at St Benedict's Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado, USA.

Centering Prayer is a way of praying designed to facilitate the development of Contemplative Prayer by preparing our faculties to receive this gift.  It is an attempt to present the teaching of early Christianity to people of the 21st century.
